Creative
Residency
Be part of the space
The Sattya Residency is a mutual exchange program for artists, educators, and creatives who want to spend time in Kathmandu while contributing to a community-driven creative space. Residents take part in the life of Sattya, contributing to its programs, spaces, and day-to-day rhythm.
What It Is
MUTUAL EXCHANGE / LIVE & CONTRIBUTE
The residency is a mutual exchange. Residents contribute around 25–30 hours per week as part of the program. In return, they receive accommodation, weekday lunch with the team (Wed–Sun), and access to shared spaces and the community.
Residencies are a minimum of one month. Your role isn't fixed — it grows out of your skills, interests, and what the space needs.
What's included
- Contribution of around 25–30 hours per week as part of the exchange
- Accommodation + weekday lunch with the team (Wed–Sun)
- Access to shared spaces and the community
- Minimum one month — your role grows from your skills and what the space needs
Why We Created This
PURPOSE / NEW ENERGY / COMMUNITY
The residency brings new energy, ideas, and perspectives into Sattya while supporting the day-to-day life of the space. It also makes it possible for visiting artists to engage meaningfully with Kathmandu's creative community.
It creates room for
- Skill-sharing and collaboration
- Stronger programs and community engagement
- Connection between local and visiting creatives
- A wider creative network around Sattya
Who It's For

Open to both Nepali and international participants, individually or as part of a broader collaboration.
What It's Like
DAY TO DAY / SPACE RHYTHM / EVOLVING
You'll be part of the day-to-day rhythm of the space. Some days are structured, others aren't. Things shift week to week, and your role grows out of your skills, interests, and what the space needs.
You might lead a session, support the Art Cafe, host a screening, help with events, or take on other roles as needed.
Sattya is still evolving. It's not a fixed system, and not everything runs perfectly.
Where You'll Stay
PRIVATE ROOM / ART CAFE / SATTYA
You'll stay in a private room at Sattya, located by the Art Cafe. The room is part of the space, so you'll naturally feel the rhythm of what's happening around you.
Room includes
- Bed, desk, shelves, and Wi-Fi
- Heater, fan, dehumidifier, and power backup
- Shared bathroom with hot showers, cleaned daily
- Private and secure — suitable for one or two people
Meals
WEEKDAY LUNCH / COMMUNITY / NEARBY CAFES
On working days, we usually have a simple Nepali lunch together at nearby cafes.
On non-working days, you can explore on your own.
There is no kitchen available for personal use, aside from making coffee or tea.
