Makerspace Skills session with Jyotsna. Turn a simple design into a print of your own! Join us for a hands-on introduction to lino-block printing with Jyotsna Udas, a visual artist and art facilitator from Pokhara whose practice explores printmaking, embroidery, collage, photography, and painting. With a love for experimenting with different materials, Jyotsna brings her experience in arts education and a belief in creativity as a way to connect people. In this session, Jyotsna will guide you through the process of designing, carving, and inking your own lino block. You'll start by creating a simple design, learn how to use carving tools, and experiment with transferring your prints onto paper and fabric. No previous experience is needed. You'll be learning by doing, exploring different printing techniques, and leaving with your own hand-carved block and prints made by you. All tools and materials will be provided. Limited spots available.
Ugly Art Night is back, and this time we’re making things out of things that probably would’ve been thrown away. Cardboard scraps, packaging, fabric offcuts, old magazines, bottle caps, broken bits, mystery objects, and whatever else we can rescue from the bin. Turn them into questionable sculptures, useless inventions, strange creatures, deeply unnecessary home decor, or something so ugly it somehow circles back to being good. The idea is simple: before something becomes waste, what else could it become? No art skills needed. No pressure to make anything polished, practical, or even remotely tasteful. We’ll have a mix of reused and leftover materials on the tables — you just have to cut, tape, paint, glue, rearrange, and see where things go. If you have clean, safe materials at home that you’ve been saving because “maybe I can use this for something,” bring them along too. There’ll be drinks, snacks, messy tables, and plenty of questionable creative decisions.Come make something ridiculous out of what was already there. Seating in the Art Cafe is limited, so advance registration is encouraged. Drop-ins are welcome if there’s still room.
