About the Opportunity

Sattya Arts Collective is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Spotted Newsletter Intern to fully manage and grow Spotted, a no-frills community newsletter highlighting art, music, film, comedy, food, and cultural events in Kathmandu. This internship provides hands-on experience in content curation, community outreach, marketing, and digital publishing. The intern will gain insight into newsletter operations, audience engagement, and the creative strategies needed to sustain a cultural platform.

Key Responsibilities

Event Discovery & Outreach

  • Research and identify upcoming arts and culture events in Kathmandu.
  • Build and maintain relationships with event organizers to encourage event submissions.
  • Manage and track event submissions to ensure a steady flow of content.

Newsletter Creation & Distribution

  • Curate, write, and format the weekly newsletter using Substack.
  • Proofread and ensure diverse, high-quality event listings.
  • Schedule and distribute the newsletter consistently.

Marketing & Audience Growth

  • Develop and execute strategies to increase newsletter subscriptions.
  • Promote Spotted through digital marketing, social media, and QR code campaigns.
  • Engage with the community to encourage feedback and content contributions.

Performance Tracking & Optimization

  • Track key newsletter metrics (open rates, clicks, subscriptions).
  • Analyze engagement trends and propose improvements.
  • Experiment with content formats and outreach strategies to boost reach.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Interest in content creation, marketing, or community engagement.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (Substack preferred) or a willingness to learn.
  • Familiarity with social media and digital marketing strategies.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Passion for Kathmandu’s arts and culture scene.
