Intro to Photography Workshop

Digital SLR Photography Basics

Do you own a digital SLR camera? Would you like to learn how to use your camera’s full potential and take better photos? This workshop will teach you how to get out of automatic mode and learn the basics of shooting with a digital SLR, including how to use different shutter speeds, apertures and ISOs; what different shooting modes mean; and what all those damn buttons do! You will also learn about composition, focus, depth of field, and framing, before putting your new skills to the test on a field trip.

 

 

Participants must have their own digital SLR camera, or a point-and-shoot digital camera with manual shooting modes.

 

 

 

When: December 3-4 (2 days)

Time: 11 AM-3 PM

Where: Sattya Media Arts Collective in Jawalakhel (behind the zoo)

Cost: Nrs. 1000 (for 2 sessions) PLEASE NOTE THAT FEE WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE BEGINNING OF FIRST SESSION.

 

 

About the instructor

Galen Stolee is a documentary photographer and filmmaker, with three years of experience working independently and for magazines and newspapers in the United States and Southeast Asia. He enjoys long days at the cafe working on photos, writing travel stories, and drinking lots of espressos. His favorite photos are full of contrast, feature unusual colors and characters, and most importantly tell stories that leave a mark. You can see his personal work here.
